Animals Get Cold Too
Published:
Updated:
This isn't going to be a long, fancy post. I just wanted to write that I live in a very hot climate, but it's cold and windy today, so I thought of all the animals I see running loose. Temperatures are expected to drop into the 30s in some areas, with a possible freeze inland.
Some people own dogs and cats and think that, because they have fur coats or maybe just because they're not human, these animals don't need the warmth and shelter that we do on a chilly evening. Although I'm opposed to any pet being kept outside, if you don't take yours in at night, please make sure he has plenty of protection from the cold air and a comfortable, dry place to sleep.
All any dog or cat ever wants is food, water, shelter and a little love. I think that's something all of us can afford.

They'll say that the animal has fur, and I tell them that the air goes through the pets fur to their bodies, and it's too cold for them.
Even a dog house for a dog is too cold if it's not insulated and doesn't have blankets.
Animals have the same rights as people.!
The weirdest thing just happened as I was writing the last part of the paragraph above. Felt like I wrote the exact same thing a few months ago, deja vu....Very strange feeling...
TC, there is an Animal Planet show on the Michigan Humane Society. A lot of people tie their dogs up in the winter and leave them to sleep in the snow. I'll never understand it. Why get a pet? 3 years ago I "stole" a dog who was tied up to a tree down the street. It was raining and in the 40s. He was wet, shivering and crying and living in his own poop. I can't describe how this dog acted when I finally got him out of my car and to a safer place. Everyone will think I'm crazy. Hope he had a better life with his new owner. I wasn't able to follow up.
