Blacks had chances to get even more than their promised "40 acres and a mule" with several homesteading acts after the War Between the States, with the one in 1866 specifically mentioning blacks and it being the main reason that, by 1900, a quarter of Southern blacks owned their own farms.

I've twice lost out on jobs because of affirmative action, being much more qualified than were the two who eventually got the jobs. I've already paid more than my fair share of reparations.

I'm all for awarding ten million dollars to anyone who was once a slave; the slave owners who are still alive can pay.

Sully has the right idea. Every "RAP" millionaire can pick up what Glover can't afford.

What would happen in the case of being mixed race...say, a white mother and a black father? Would they have to pay themselves?

Since we really don't have any money to fund something of this magnitude, it will have to come at the expense of housing subsidies, food stamps, education grants, govt. scholarships and other programs that help the needy. I know not just blacks are being assisted with those, but everyone else will have to bite the bullet, too. Ag. subsidies, small business loans, cut SSI and Medicare/Medicaid... so many other places the money can come from...sure, it will hurt, but at least we'll be one and done with this. I dunno what the people who depend upon govt. assistance will do, but if the blacks don't care, then I don't either.
