I always figured and said the nation needed a strong manufacturing base. When they started importing cheap goods from other countries is when this country started going downhill.
I have seen a lot of factories close because of cheaper imports.
What factories in your local area were closed that hired a lot of locals that were put out to pasture. Those employees were happy with those jobs giving them an income.
Buying made in the USA is supporting the citizens who produce those goods. Either buy made in the USA or support those citizens through taxation.
When they build new or rehab old manufacturing facilities they will rebuild and retool with up to date technology to operate at a profit.
They like to try to goad us into cap & trade to cut carbon emissions. All someone has to do is go to windy.com (weather site), set up a free account and play with their maps. They have one setting you can click which is "CO (carbon monoxide) concentration" then look around the world. A true eye opener to see how much China is churning out which is pretty constant year round.
