I think perhaps it was about that at first, but somewhere along the way someone got in Kaepernick's ear and started whispering sweet leftist ideology to him. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe his hatred of the U.S. and what it stands for was his motivation all the time. Maybe he could see that his police brutality charges had run their course - being disproved - and he hopped onto this recent reparations bandwagon.

Yes, this country has really treated him badly. He made millions while he was playing ($4+ million on his first contract, then nearly $40 million on his second contract, I *think*) and his Nike contract is reported to be for five yrs. at $10 million/yr. It's reported he's now worth over $20 million.

Protesting slavery, huh? He's worried about long-dead ancestors of his, yet he doesn't seem concerned about the actual living slaves who make the products he endorses? From the Interwebs:

"Nike has contracted with more than 700 shops around the world and has offices located in 45 countries outside the United States. Most of the factories are located in Asia, including Indonesia, China, Taiwan, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Pakistan, Philippines, and Malaysia."

"Nike employs more than 100,000 factory workers in Indonesia, paying them an average of about $3.50 per day. Still, despite the rapidly growing demand for its labor, Indonesia remains one of Asia's poorest countries, with the average citizen taking home less than $3,500 per year."

Nike pays millions of dollars to professional athletes to endorse their products but can't pay their workers a higher wage.   Does anyone else but me see what's wrong with that picture? Apparently not Kaepernick.
