What works for me is having a fan running to block out unwanted noise.

It depends on the type of noise and why you are bothered by it, Mike. If you normally sleep well, but are being disturbed by sounds, then what Rick suggests is a good idea. You can also buy sound machines that block out what is referred to as "white noise" like the buzzing of refrigerators and other common household sounds that could be bothersome. If you don't want to invest in a white noise maker, you can simply purchase a CD with those sounds, i.e., the sound of rain, a waterfall, a gentle breeze, etc. They usually cost between $10-$12.

In my case, a fan and other sounds just add to the problem. I need dead silence, which is really tough to get. Another suggestion is to block out any light in the room. I throw a blanket over my curtains sometimes because I'm very light sensitive. Winning a few million is another suggestion.   Relieves all sorts of stress!!   :-)

A six-pack of Heineken. Believe me....It could be WWW III outside......LOL

It works better if you drink all six. WARNING: DO NOT PUT BOTTLES IN EARS! WON'T WORK!

Yes, Pac. But if you drink 6 of them at once, you'd better have an empty bottle close by!

Happy to hear the fans work, Mike. Simpler is better. I was looking at those White Noise machines online and they run anywhere from $29 to over $100. I've had birds chirping, waves crashing ...but if they haven't found a cure for noise "inside" the head. LOL
