All I know is that that new orange/vanilla coke that was promoted during the Collage Basketball playoffs was some nasty stuff. Tasted like Children's Liquid Tylenol or that I had walked into a heavily air scented room and the taste had gotten in my mouth.

I thought it tasted like Pepsi. I've nothing against that brand, but if given the choice (back then), I would choose a Coke - or Dr Pepper, or Fanta Red or 7-Up or Sprite or an A&W Root Beer.

Coke is sweet, too, but I liked the carbonated "bite" that it had that I did not think Pepsi had. Pepsi always tasted a bit "flat" to me.

It's been a long time since I had a soda with sugar, but the older incarnations made w/ cane sugar were much better, no matter the brand or type of pop. You can still buy cane sugar sodas from online specialty shops or Amazon and sometimes grocery stores import them from Mexico, one of the few consumables from that country I would trust to be untainted.

Basically, the article consists of slams at the mostly conservative south. Mother Jones, bless ya'll's heart, you try so hard to disguise your political hackery, but fail as usual.
