The left is all up-in-arms over this, but I think it was either FDR, maybe Truman, who tried to buy Greenland near the end of WWII.   I forget how much cash was offered, but part of the deal was swapping some of Alaska to boot.

Personally, I thought it a little strange for Trump to propose, but like you say, the "art of the deal". I saw some figures about how much Denmark has to pay to subsidize Greenland, quite a bit for a country the size of Denmark. I don't think there's any oil or gas off the coast and perhaps there's some minerals, but if so, they're buried under over a mile of ice.

I thought it a little strange for G.H.W. Bush to promise to send men to Mars when he was elected, too and my ears really perked up when he spoke of a "new world order".

Thanks Mike. If all info in that video is accurate then I am in favor of the deal.

I had the Styx video open in another tab when I opened up this post and just now watched the video at 1.5 speed. (the accent was a little weird that fast). Not sure that they are correct about the oil/gas, but I could be wrong b/c not too far to the east lies the massive N. Sea fields. I was just not aware of any possible plays there. I also did not know about the rare earth deposits there but if that's true, then I'm def. for buying the island, mainly b/c of most of those minerals being in China and Russia.

Thanks Mike. I was not aware of most of the things covered in that video but very in favor of purchase if correct.

Tammy Bruce informed us the Chi Commys tried getting into Greenland and then throw the Danes into so much debt they would have to give it up to the Chi Commys, the Danes saw their evil intentions and didn't do the deal.

Thanks Jarasan. Interesting so no wonder it's being brought up now.
