Pro Wresling

Published:

I like telling the others who like other sports I watch a real "sport" Pro Wrestling. Some bad guys (heels) I like and some good gus (babyfaces) I don't like. But i really like watchng Pro Wresling. Been watching it since it was out of Chicago back in the 60's. Been to several live matches. Sit by a female wrestler who called herself Rockin Robin. I to far back in the audience to see Randy Savage but I did get to see Shari Martel walking in the hall. I like some Indian like Wahoo Mc Daniels and Chief Jay Strongbow. There is one who was on the independent circuit who was called at that Danny Little Bear. I had a young friend who asked hime for an autograph but was turned down. That's when he became Danny Little Bore. There's more but Charlotte Flair vs the boss Sasha Banks. Banks was DQ'ed thanks to Bayley's interference One of my favorite wrestlers was The animal" Batista. Will post more  in anoter blog entry as Smackdown is about over.

I was a fan of wrestling when I was a kid; living in the Texas Panhandle and having wrestling on Sat. nights out of Amarillo - where many of the wrestlers were based "back in the day" - made it even better.   Dory Funk Sr. had a show with his young sons, Dory Jr. and Terry on Sunday mornings with guests like Wahoo McDaniels, Ricky Romero and Iron Man Mike DiBiase.

The family went to Amarillo on a shopping trip one Saturday and while my sisters and mom looked f/ clothes, I tagged along w/ Pop to a "basement bar" where he struck up a conversation with a big ol' guy who looked familiar - it was McDaniels. He had the bartender bring him another beer, asked dad if he wanted one and said "Get a Coke for my new friend....and bring this midget a beer, too." nodding to me.

Later, when I went off to college, I had a speech class w/ several of the college football players and sat next to Teddy DiBiase, "The Million Dollar Man". He was very likeable. I believe he's got a traveling evangelical ministry now and think his son is in the biz, too.

Years later, I moved to Denton to court my future wife/now ex. and enjoyed going into a little out-of-the-way cafe and met several of the Von Erich brothers. One had commented on my muscled up arms (at the time, they've since shrunk) from roughnecking and told me I looked like I would make a good wrestler.

Remember when John Stossel told that wrestler - Schultz - that wrestling was fake? Way big mistake.

i have seen Dick Murdoch wresle Randy Rhodes (related somehow to the Rhodes) in person in Girard Kansas. I also saw them come in the same car together. Dick Murdoch won the match, Never have seen the Von Erichs in person but have seen Adre the Giant. Ft Scott Kansas would sometimes have wrestling matches with wreslers from Kansas City. I saw Mike George. Terry Funk. Pat Patterson. Little Tokyo (midget wrestler). After the matches were over with my friend and I stopped at a convient store and I sw one of the other midget wrestlers buying beer. These are older wreslers from the 80's Tommy Gilbert and Baron Von Rashske with a few others I don't remember. I was a little disappointed when I looked up in the stands to seee Tommy Gilbert smoking a cigarette. Usually the matches that come near Pittsburg Ks are independents I have seen Tommy Rich and Doink the clown from the Indies (independeent) I remember seeing Gorgeous George and waatching him on tv. Sometimes I go on youtube and watch the old WCW shows and also the AWA. Also the some of the other promotions like ROH TNA etc.
