I have a friend, an old classmate in OK who is invested with and works at a new grow facility - surprising, since she was a "real" cowboy's daughter and quite the redneck back in school. She told me this was coming a few weeks ago and was all for it. None of the commutations were for people who had committed violent crimes, only a few for minor property crimes and the rest for simple possession of drugs...and mostly for pot.

I used to "joke" that the only place I'd rather NOT serve time in other than Texas was Oklahoma. (not really true; there's Mississippi or Louisiana, maybe Florida, definitely New York, maybe a few prisons in California...aw heck, I'd just as soon stay out of ANY prison)

Anyway, good for them, I'd like to see Texas do the same and if not legalize, relax their anti-marijuana laws. The state has already instructed the hwy. patrol to write tickets but not arrest for possession of under two oz.

Funny though, how Republicans are being more lenient on minor crimes while Democrats want to build more prisons.
