Better Late Than Never

In a vote of 96-0 from the House and unanimous voice vote in the Senate, the Virginia legislature passed a non-binding resolution expressing "profound regret" for slavery and the exploition of Native Americans.

As Virginia was preparing to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Jamestown someone felt it just didn't look quite right to have a festive occassion touting the freedom of the New Americans while the first documented Africans to arrive at Jamestown in 1619 were in chains, under guard, and enslaved to the New Americans.  This same fate had already become the lot for the Native Aboriginal population, aka Native Americans aka Indians.

Hats off for the 96-0 and unanimous votes.  A step in the right direction.  Let the healing begin.
