Logic says that in a large city if construction were taking place all construction materials including bricks would be behind a secure fence and locked gate.

The good guys should make those piles o'brix dissappear as soon as they are deposited. I could build a heck of a fireplace out just two off them piles. They don't look like refractory brick though.
