The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was "cooties"?

....and you wouldn't believe the number of people who told me I had cooties. I'll have to go back and look, but did you list when you went to the local drug store to get an ice cream float? How about where you knew the name of the pharmacist and everything was delivered to your door? My family doctor actually made house calls!!   I did have a purebred dog, however. She even came with papers. However, she sooned learned to use the backyard.

It sure takes you back and yes I remember most all of these.I sure wish I could have the same memories for my children. We played kickball and hide and seek for hours on end, we left our house by 10:00 on saturdays on bikes and didn't come home until dark and no one worried. No video games child predators, well maybe that rare one or two, the world was not such a sick place back then. I miss those times very much. We ran a tab at the corner store and my Dad would pay it on Fridays, Every day after school I would stop and spend 50 cents on candy and junk and bought enough stuff for myself and 2 or 3 friends for that amount.Always went to Grandparents on Sundays with 22 aunts and uncles, and 50 or more cousins, we played war in the corn fields and we had to wait for the men to eat before we could that meant we had to stay outside and look in the windows cause we coul not come in while they were eating and if any of the aunts caught you you got your hair pulled.Oh my good ness how I miss it, Thanks for sharing this very very special. I had a brand new pair of metal roller skates and a brand new key. The skates adjusted to fit all size shoes. The skates clamped onto the soles of our shoes and a leather strap buckled around our ankles. We skated on red dirt roads when they were dry enough (our version of sidewalks). The nearest skating rink was 50 miles away and we did't have a car.
I remember nearly all the memories.......thanks for the trip down memory lane.     Maggie-Nolia
