Freedom Of Speech

FREEDOM OF SPEECH

In this country we have something called free speech. It is our right. It's in the first amendment of our constitution. We are allowed to say whatever we want about anything. That free speech allows us to debate, argue, and discuss things here, like we've been doing for some time now. We don't always agree about things, but that's okay. That is what freedom of speech is all about. It's about having and discussing opposing views and being able to do it freely.

Here's the problem.
When that right is taken away from us it is called censorship. Which means someone else can decide what we can or can't say. And that is where we are at right now. There are a lot of people and social media sites being shut down right now for various reasons.

Some people are happy or glad about that, because they don't like or disagree with what some people say or their viewpoints. But one thing for sure, the ones being shut down are not happy about it. Now if you were the one being shut down how would you feel? Would you be happy about it? Of course not. What would you want other people to do? Would you want them to stand up for you, support you, speak up for you, to help you, fight for you? Yes you would. And that is what we all need to do now. We all need to support, help, and fight for each other. Regardless of our views or opinions.

Our freedom of speech is one of the most valuable rights we have in our country. Many others do not have that right. It is why they come here. We need to protect that right at all costs for ALL of us. We can NEVER let anyone take it away from us. Remember, either we all have the right to speak freely or none of us do. There is NO in between.

Posted something today about basketball fans wanting to decide their basketball teams Freedom of Speech. The team, the entire coaching staff and the head coach took a knee during the National Anthem. I believe they do have the Right to peacefully and legally express their opinion.

@stack47, so who is censoring them?

Jarasan, he can't answer that, and never will. There is a big difference between your actions and your speech.

They censored trump because he incited a riot and people got killed. Its a no brainer. He had over 15000 tweets with mostly negative, wild accusations of fraud and constsnt drivel. Enough is enought like his fellow republican Lindsy Grahm said. Even the republicans are calling for him to leave. Why is that so hard to understand?   Why all the constant stupidity?

Oh BS. Constant drivel? As in your posts? Although i certainly dont look for your posts I have never seen anything from you positive. You are nothing but a troll.

Never said someone censored them.

It looks like the Kool-Aid drinkers can't distinguish the difference between "WANTING to decide" what others may or may not want to say or do and full censorship. From some of the stuff I read, and heard, some fans do in fact want to censor a basketball team and coaches actions. But WANTING to do something and censorship are two different things in the English speaking world.

There are people that programmed their voice mail to say "press 2 for Trump speak" and it appears some of them are on LP.

OH, and lots of people WANT trump impeached AGAIN and this time removed from office. Might get one out of two.

Freedom of Speech comes with strings attached, whether you want to believe it or not. The supporters of Trump at this last rally that got out of control “ were Free to express themselves “ BUT when that “ freeness” tells the brain to start breaking into Federal property, confiscating documents, breaking windows, walking around inside the Capitol as though one is in a Theme Park- that Freedom Stops right there.
So yeah, Freedom of Speech has to be controlled by actions that follow.
Just because the President says “ Now go up to the Capitol and fight for your Freedom” don’t make it legal. The FBI is knocking on doors as we speak to those who thought their Freedom of Speech was a right to do whatever, whenever.

Funny how when the BLM and Antifa protesters were destroying police stations, setting them on fire and doing the same thing to FEDERAL court houses, and taking over entire sections of cities this summer, all the democrat mayors and governors and main stream media, said or did NOTHING to condemn or stop the violence and destruction and killings. They told the police to stand down, let them do what they want. They're expressing their feelings we wre told.
Kamala Harris even set up a website to raise bail money for the few protesters in Minnesota that did get arrested. And now she's the vice president. smh. Doesn't look like she's going to try to stop any future BLM & antifa riots. Isn't that just great for the country?
So don't give us all this hypocritical BS about how the capitol riots were so bad, when you and the democrats had NOTHING at all, to say all summer long when things were way, way, way worse in Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, DC, and other cities.

I can tell you upset, and it’s understandable G, but you comparing Apples to Oranges. How do you ask, because the groups you discussed were out on the streets because of the “ killings of George & other kids etc” by Cops & accountability was slow in coming, some Cops even said they were defending them against unarmed people, You know this.

In The case of the Riots at the Capitol, these guys were given “ the green light” by non other than the President of the United States, see- Apples to Oranges. Violence in any form should & must be condemned by anyone, but this “ don’t tell me” stuff is irrational thinking. In fact Black March with a Purpose in mind, Martin Luther King and others did it, so “ don’t tell me” they don’t have a right to march. They rioted alright, which was criminal, but your clan breaching the Capitol was taking it too far G. You know this as well.

If someone gave a green light to jump off a cliff, would you?
Listen he "DID NOT" give them a green light to Riot, and if you can prove to me he said just to Riot, I'll shut my mouth. He gave them an OK to Protest, NOT Riot. That is a given right to protest, Also can you prove to us it was the protestors who rioted and not infiltrator's. That would be the difference between Apples and Oranges.

NG, Freedom of speech DOES NOT come with strings attached. It is a given right in the Constitution. Freedom of speech is what it is, Rioting is not freedom of speech so why are you comparing the two as if they are one? The FBI is knocking on doors for those who were caught rioting and destroying Federal Property, Not for freedom of speech. When someone leaves the realm of Freedom of Speech it is no longer considered that, if they express themselves in a different manner, they suffer the consequences of their actions, hence rioting, looting, burning homes, buildings, That is the difference between Apples and Oranges.

NG, lb, The rioters were not give the "green light" from Trump. The dems and the left have been encouraging it for the last 4 years. Here's where the "green light" came from.

Right now Congress and not social media will decide if whatever Trump said was criminal. Do the MAGA people really believe not one of the rioters facing prison time will testify in court they "acted on Trump's orders" to go after the weak Republicans?

I wasn't on the jury acquitting OJ so my opinion changes nothing and neither does any of our opinions on what Trump told the crowd and how they perceived it.

"they need to take back our country. So let’s walk down Pennsylvania Avenue." The results are on video.

First off Maddog, l am not guessing. Trump spoke at that lecture to his supporters & encouraged them to “ fight for their Freedom” Trump pointed them to the Capitol, sure he may have thought they would gather around it like they do at his rallies, but the supporters “ interpreted that speech “ as disrupt those proceeding, and how would they do that IF THEY WERE OUTSIDE Maddog? Get my drift? If Trump has whistled a different tune to his supporters, they would never have broke into the Capitol, was it not him that said the rally was going to be “ Wild?”
If you saying all those supporters are idiots to misinterpret the President, well that’s on both of them. As for Freedom of Speech, it does come with strings attached. Ever heard of people being sued for libel & unproven accusations? That Bog Dog is why you need to be careful of what you say, cause you could end up paying through your A** for you assume is Freedom of Speech. Just as you can’t board a plane and say “ l have a bomb” try telling that to the FBI went they wheel you off to jail.
Come on Maddog, you smarter than this.

It looks like the trump followers are watching the riot with blinders on. They showed more people being arrested and alot of them don't seem to have a clue what sanity is. Four years of talk of hate and all those wacko sites has turned alot of these people insane. What normal person runs screaming and treating politicians.

Saw this on social media today:

"It takes a special type of stupid to think the left would dress up like the right and raid the the Capitol building to change the outcome of an election they just own."

And speaking of libel, that kid wearing a MAGA hat smiling at Nathan Phillips during a Lincoln Memorial rally, may have got millions in a libel settlement. So it's obviously true, there are strings attached to Freedom of Speech.

CNN has a new motto.

If something happened and we say it didn't, then it didn't.
If something didn't happen and we say it did, then it did.

Heard an old "dad joke" but more likely a "grandpa joke". President Eisenhower was giving Russian Premier Nikita Khrushchev a tour of the Capital Building and explaining Freedom of Speech. Ike said any U.S. Citizen has the Right to stand on the top steps of this building and call me a dumb SoB.

Khrushchev said "we too have the same Right in the Soviet Union". "All of our citizens have the Right to stand on the top step of the Kremlim and call you a dumb SoB too".

Freedom of Speech has a "absence of malice" disclaimer which more applies more to public and business speech. Most social media outlets say attack the words and ideas not the author. Facebook is full of "shares" where some people have no idea what they just shared. News media can make unproved claims as long as they're "absent of malice".

While it's true we are allowed to say whatever we want about anything in the privacy of our homes, be careful what you say in public because if it's malicious and you're sued, you might not have a home to say it in.

I read where some rioters were asking the President to Pardon them because they followed through on his Freedom of speech expression for them to March on the Capitol.
I wonder if that will work. Think the guy in the horned headdress, a QNon shaman needs a pardon, how about the guy sitting in Pelosi’s chair? Any thoughts?

Chances of that happening? About the same as hitting MM and PB jackpots in the same weekend. lol
