Nelson County, KY GOP demands that Mitch resigns his Senate leadership position.

And it's not because of Mitch's trial vote but because of what he said later about Trump. Today, Nelson County, Kentucky GOP Chairman Don Thrasher not just demanded, but "formally demanded":

"Given that the county party that I represent supports President Trump overwhelmingly, and your complete and total disdain for the will of your constituents here in Nelson county I am formally demanding you immediately resign your leadership position within our party's caucus in the United States Senate,"

Other than preaching to the choir, can't see the significance considering Mitch won't be up for re-election until 2026. Don't see what he could say if Mitch asked "or what". Sort of looks like Thrasher waited until Trump responded before he issued his IMO meaningless statement. And probably to get his 2 minutes of fame trying to parrot the censuring of Senators a few state GOP parties did.

I'm not a fan of Mitch McConnell and never voted for him, but his Trump Tirade was logical and consistent considering his wife Elaine Chao, Trump's Transportation Secretary resigned on January 7, 2020 saying she was "deeply troubled by the entirely avoidable events at the Capital Building". Education Secretary Betsy DeVos resigned the same day and regardless of their statements, maybe both of them didn't want to deal with the 25th Amendment.

Staring too look like the GOP is acting sillier than usual or maybe falling apart.

Mitch is going nowhere. The voters will swallow the bitter taste and move on. Just take the so called “ Gavin Newsom” recall as Governor. Yeah, recall, but who do you replace him with? All these guys have no household names. Waste of time & money.who should be recalled is Texas Gov Abbot. He told his fellow state citizens that the gas pipes froze at the source, then he goes on Tucker & blames windmills.

Cruz must have forgot his hero wanted a wall across the Mexican border when he booked his trip to Cancun. Hawaii is pretty nice this time of year, but had Teddy vacationed in the U.S. he would miss out on the "who can tell the biggest lie about the Texas power shortage" he is having with Abbot.

Other than showing moral support, not much Cruz could do, but don't go on vacation and leave the state that elected you Senator while your constituents are going through a pandemic and now some have no heat or drinking water.

When did lying just about every thing become part of our government? What was so it difficult for Ted Cruz to simply say it was last minute trip and he used poor judgement considering the circumstances in Texas. First he blamed his daughters and then his wife before someone pointed out his nose was growing. Wonder if Trump will call him "lyin" Ted again after changing it to "beautiful" Ted.

There is probably very little Cruz or John Cornyn can do help the get the power back on and help people get drinking water, but at least Cornyn was smart enough not to get photographed boarding a plane to Cancun, Mexico.
