Don't know if it's delusions of grandeur or because large groups of followers give them big heads, but several politicians all over the World suffer from that affliction.

Talked to people that voted for Reagan twice, voted for H. W. Bush and then did a 180 and voted for Clinton in 1992. Political scientist historians will say Reagan won so easily because of independents and cross over Democrat voters. H.W. got neither but didn't cry like a baby when he lost his reelection bid.
