Windows XP vs Vista - Funny

It must have taken years of brainstorming to come up with all the "new" sounds for Microsoft's new operating system.  Wink  Listen for yourself!

Entry #57

Vista sounds are from Win 3.1 for workgroups, you know Bill Gates needs to save on production.

I must say, as someone who has been running Vista Ultimate since it came out, I really like the sounds in Vista much better than XP.

I heard/saw that video clip long before Vista came out in January. It was based upon a beta version, but the sounds are basically correct.

When you are accustomed to hearing the XP sounds for many years, it is a little jarring to hear such different noises -- which seem kind of wimpy in comparison. However, I guarantee that after you actually use your computer for a while with the new noises it will be the XP noises that seem incredibly JARRING. Vista is so much more REFINED, and so are the sounds.

Some of the Vista sounds you'll never really hear -- like the harp, the chord, the ring, etc. The comparison is really unnessesary for those sounds.

The sounds with the best changes are anything indicating an error. In XP you practically jump out of your chair when you hear some of the error noises. In Vista it seems just right.

Just my 2 cents!

jarasan, I don't think that is correct. The Vista sounds are all-new. There is a document somewhere on the MS site that discusses exactly how they were made. It is more complex than it seems.

Here is a video of the actual recording session for Vista - a little dark in the studio, but you get the idea. Copy and paste the link into your browser adderess line and press enter.

Thanks, Todd. I never read any of these comments. My head has been somewhere else these days.
