Carded for purchasing Power Ball tickets.

Published:

And not just carded; the clerk wanted to scan my "proof of age". I looked them right in their eyes and asked "do you really believe I'm not at least 18?". They said it was the "store policy" to check everyone so I said "no thanks" and went to another store without even asking why they wanted to scan my drivers licence to buy lottery tickets at the counter when I could get the same tickets at one of their two kiosk machines.

Not worth arguing or questioning why because there are many other stores and most have a Kiosk machine. Heard clerks asking for ID for purchasing beer or cigarettes, but first time for wanting to scan my ID.

Apparently one of their clerks sold beer or cigarettes to a minor so the owner instructed all of them to check all IDs. With about every store having a lottery kiosk, be really difficult to card everybody.

Was carded when I cashed pick-4 tickets, but that was to fill out a W-2G.

* Carded, yeah- for alcohol & cigarettes out in this neck of the wood. In fact some agents conduct sting operations by sending in minors to purchase the above mentioned items, but have yet to hear of them using minors for lottery tickets- only time will tell.

* Have yet to read of the outcome of that case where the father sent his underage son to purchase a scratcher which turned out to be a $5mil winner. The lottery at that time refused to pay the money. Happened in S California years ago.

I've been carded a few times at the Circle K but not lately for the lottery.
