Is there a law against taking classified records to your golf course?

Published:

National Archives confirms White House records taken by Trump contained classified information. Bet they include pictures of him before he does his usual "tan spray and comb-over".

Can't wait to read how Trump's MAGA allies spin this one. The sad part is some of those classified records could be read by the KGB or Trump's bestie Kim Jong-una. And someone here actually said "the best President since Ronald Reagan".

Wonder how many valuables were found missing from the White House after Trump was evicted?

"when Hillary is arrested"

Not aware of her being even charged with taking classified documents to Mar-a-Lego let alone being tried, convicted, and sentences. But thanks for adding to your usual pitifully stupid remarks.

"a COUNTRY FULL OF SIN"

The United States is country of laws though the majority believe the Trump Presidency was a huge sin. And one of those laws is Title 18 U.S. Code § 798 - Disclosure of classified information

When I said "Can't wait to read how Trump's MAGA allies spin this one", didn't expect to read the degree of ignorance you posted. For instance,

"REAL MEN EAT BROCCOLI RAW!!!"

I'm quoting George H. W. Bush, the 41st President and a WWII hero. Should have known Trump supporters prefer moronic draft dodgers.

Besides the quote is a reference to some of the LP members that feel they must say they don't like a particular lottery game as if anyone really cares whether or not they play that game, buy a $50 scratch-off, or that me and the war hero that became VP and President doesn't like broccoli.

* The Commander in Thief probably thought that those boxes he pilfered from the WH were going to be displayed at his library when the time came. Imagine the general public looking at classified material for all to see? It’s like l have said, this guy was & is unfit to have ever occupied the WH.

* To think: In 3rd world countries- the uneducated will go to bat for their inept leaders, yet we experienced that in the form of Trump, who knew little about politics, and still does, yet his followers are Cult-like in nature. I am still waiting for any of them to tell me ONE or TWO things that Trump screwed up on while in office. All they hear is “ Only l can fix it or that would never have happened had l still been in office.”

Well hmmmm.... He could have documents marked "classified" that may have been declassified before he took them and they would still have the markings on them after they were declassified.

"National Archives confirms White House records taken by Trump contained classified information."

"Contained" as in past tense not "Contain"! It will be interesting to see if this is an actual story or just more fake news...we will see...

"He could have documents marked "classified" that may have been declassified before he took them"

Where do these ignorant people come from?

Because of "The Presidential Records Act (PRA) of 1978, 44 U.S.C. ß2201-2209, governs the official records of Presidents and Vice Presidents that were created or received after January 20, 1981", it was illegal for Trump's people to take any of those record classified or not.

"It will be interesting to see if this is an actual story or just more fake news"

Which part of "National Archives confirms" is confusing you?

"Trump, who knew little about politics, and still does, yet his followers are Cult-like in nature."'

Just in this Blog entry we have one example of a Trump supporter with apparently zero reading comprehension and not understanding a very simple question "Is there a law against taking classified records to your golf course?". And another can't figure out why the National Archives were required by law to retrieve the Presidential Records Trump took to his golf course.

"we will see"

But if they can't understand what they "see", it won't make any difference.

Why couldn't you have just said that??? You know there is so much fake crap out there that most people are not going to bother to look anything up further!

You would frustrate yourself less if you would just say what you mean instead of accusing people of being ignorant!!

"Why couldn't you have just said that???"

It says that in the link I gave.

"You know there is so much fake crap out there"

You're making it very difficult for me not to sound condescending. The National Archives is a government agency, non-political, and has no reason to make false or fake statements about its task of preserving presidential records.

"that most people are not going to bother to look anything up further!"

And exactly why we have all the false and misleading corona virus vaccine information. I began suggesting checking with personal doctors before getting vaccinated almost a year ago. If they want to argue with their doctor based on what "they read on the Internet", it's no skin off my nose. Wearing a mask in public places should be a no-brainer.

"say what you mean instead of accusing people of being ignorant!!"

Nothing wrong with being ignorant unless we refuse to acknowledge that we are. I wasn't giving my opinion on Trump taking presidential records, classified or not. It's a fact some of Trump's presidential records were taken to his golf course and according to the National Archives, some of the records contained classified information.

What the H is wrong with peoples thinking nowadays? In language we can better understand/ Trump took government from from Washington DC to Florida that he had no right to have in his possession the minute he was no longer President. He occupied the WH at the voter’s behest- end of story!

* Example: if you renting a fully furnished house or apartment: You DO NOT remove the furniture or pictures from the walls. This fool broke all the rules as he went along. Even while out of office, he continues to spew nonsense about the election & other’s who do not agree with him. America got rid of an inept President. They have a history of doing that: Carter, Bush Snr & Trump.

When the President tells us which news agencies are giving "fake news" with no proof, some people stop reading and viewing news reports. And probably why there was a confusion over the National Archives report saying Trump took presidential records on his way out.

The law says an outgoing president and vice-president must give their records to the National Archives. What makes Trump action even worse is the fact some of records contained classified information.

I doubt any of the law makers are surprised, but most on the right will pretend like it never happened.

I urge you to go back and read your original post.

If you lead with -

"Because of "The Presidential Records Act (PRA) of 1978, 44 U.S.C. ß2201-2209, governs the official records of Presidents and Vice Presidents that were created or received after January 20, 1981", it was illegal for Trump's people to take any of those record classified or not."

and then included the link after that I would have bothered to read the story.

The way you wrote your original post it sounds like you deliberately wanted to politically charge it!

Try to read your original post and consider that Most people cant read your mind and you will see what you did wrong!!!

I do not know what your education level is but if you have a College or University degree you may want to consider suing that institution for giving you a degree without teaching you a clear and concise way to communicate your thoughts.

Re read your original post and if you can't figure out why you are so frustrated then there isn't much more I can say.
