Maybe you stargazers out there knew that, but I didn't.

I guess I haven't been paying attention all these years cuz I didn't know you could see planets with your bare eyes either. I thought you needed a telescope.

The Moon Shines too...but if you get too much Moonshine everything can go dark for hours at a time ;)

Another sad fact is that as you get older your pupils don't open as wide as they do when you are younger which means older people need bigger lenses or mirrors, when they use telescopes or binoculars, to see things as brightly as younger people.

Years ago, I saw the M51 Whirlpool in a telescope and then when I was older I saw it again in the same brand of telescope only the later one was much bigger.
The younger view was much better as I could swear I was looking at a slide...in fact I inspected the telescope because I thought the guy was punking me the view was that good (but it WAS the actual view).

The older view through the bigger telescope was not as exciting but was what I expected it to look like when I was younger through the smaller telescope. Both times were at the same sight and had no lights around for miles.

If you look at your pupils in a mirror and you look at younger peoples eyes you will notice how much wider their pupils open.
