Turning schools into prisons, there's a reason for that.

The question should not be how do we stop school shootings. It should be, why does my kid feel the need to bring a weapon to school in the first place? Answer that and you can solve the problem. Start with the parents and the school administrators.

I went to Detroit Public schools, High School we had metal detectors and cops, motorcycle cops.
This was 1977 , guess what, nobody got shot at school .
You couldn't get in all the doors, but you could push the bar and get out, one way doors, gee what a concept.

Every where was bad back in those days. I didn't go to school in NYC (class of 73) but NYC was bad in the 70s-90. Guiliani got elected in 94. He was tough on crime and cleaned it up. We need that now all over.
