Under Trump, US jobs are moving overseas even faster than before
“We’re just shipping company after company after company is leaving this country and leaving jobs behind,” president Donald Trump said on the campaign trail last year. “And I’m going to get it stopped.”
So far, not so good. A group that advocates for federal workers says government records show (pdf) more than 10,000 jobs at federal contractors have been sent over overseas since Trump was elected. That’s more than double the average annual amount during Barack Obama’s presidency.
All told, in the year since Trump was elected, more than 93,000 jobs have been certified by the Department of Labor as lost to outsourcing or trade competition, slightly higher than the average of about 87,000 in the preceding five years. But federal contractors made up 10% of that number, rather than the previous average of 4%. That suggests companies that work for the government like General Motors, Boeing and United Technologies aren’t worried about political repercussions from the man in the White House.
The reality is that the president has little leeway in federal contracting law to prevent companies, even those hired by the government, from shifting jobs overseas.
To actually protect good jobs in the United States, major fixes are needed to US trade and tax laws that make it profitable for companies to shift production and earnings overseas, as well as more investment in training workers for jobs that add more value.
* So, you talking through your A**.
Thanks you ahole demogrunts
Set in the rust belt state of Ohio, it highlights the devastation wrought to Moraine by the closure of the General Motors plant in 2008, the town’s economic lifeline.
Unfortunately, Moraine’s story was all too common. Between 2000 and 2010, nearly six million jobs in US manufacturing were lost, with the sectors most prone to globalization displacements, such as textiles and furniture, taking the biggest hit, according to research by Bonvillian and MIT’s Peter L Singer.
Other metrics tell the same story. The fixed capital investment of manufacturing (plant, equipment, information technology, and so on) actually declined in the 2000s – for the first time since data collection began in 1947.
His mind is made up. Don't confuse him with the facts.
* I was merely showing your foolish friend that he was wrong. I did not say the everything is great at present- but to believe : We wouldn’t have a war in Ukraine, that we wouldn’t have supply & demand issues had Trump still been President, is wishing & hoping through your ar***
* l am still waiting for anyone one of you to tell me why “ Biden was not told to Concede since you weaklings believe 45 won!” Why can’t your message get through?
We're still waiting for you to explain how and why you think America is better off with Biden in charge. What's the hold up? Brag on Biden, without none of the usual orange man bad bs. Just Biden. How is he helping Americans here in America?
* Remember the “ if Mike does the right thing” from your leader to “ hang Mike Pence!” America does not need the creep in the WH ever again. The guy revealed himself to be all mouth.
That's the extent of your bragging about your idol Dopey Joe Biden?
LOL! LOL! LOL! That's a LOL a Palooza!!!
And it wasn't even an infrastructure bill.
It was a slush fund for the New Green Deal and Build Back Better fiascoes. Free money for stupid ass projects that are doomed to fail just like Obama's brainstorm windfall for Solyndra.
I CAN NOT BELIEVE how f*cking stupid and gullible you are!
* Second you say it was a " slush fund" if so, why were republicans who voted against it suddenly claiming a victory lap when money started flowing to their States?
* Among the Republicans who bashed the law but are taking credit for its initiatives in recent weeks are two lawmakers representing Louisiana: Rep. Steve Scalise, the House minority whip, and Rep. Clay *Higgins, whose district spans the southern part of the Bayou State.
Scalise, in a news release, highlighted $400 million in initiatives (made possible by the law) that mitigate flooding.
*Higgins similarly applauded more than $190 million in funding for waterway projects in his district.
* They seem to be okay with it- being politicians, how is it that you being a mountain gorilla is against it, oh l know, you not a politician, you just someone with a lot of hot air.
* Btw: Talking about gullible persons, besides yourselves which you already know are gullible is the fact that Trump, your cult leader...TOOK ADVICE FROM A DRUNK- NAMELY GUILIANI.
* That shows the depth of your fallen ex President incompetence- no Law Firm out there was willing to risk their reputation by representing Trump in court- THEY ALL KNEW he lost, the only suckers who still think he won are the poor souls who don't know black from white.
* Trump's entire case for overturning the election rested in the hands of a DRUNK. Yet here you are calling me an idiot when you had Rudy's back the whole time. How is it that you couldn't tell he was intoxicated the whole time?
So Trump played golf. Maybe you should read this about Biden.
500 days in office, 188 days on vacation. Biden on pace to take more vacations than any President ever.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10878885/Biden-pace-vacation-president-prepares-head-Rehoboth.html
I don't why he does that, he doesn't do anything. He doesn't even do press conferences or answer questions. He justs blames everything he screws up on somebody else. What a leader.
BTW, Repeating all the bs they're talking about on the J-6 hearings isn't giving your points any validity. It's all lies. It's just like when Adam Schiff tried reading a made up transcript of Trump's call to Zelenskyy. He thought he was gonna nail Trump with it. Till Trump played the ACTUAL transcript. OOOPS!!!
Trump caught them all on everything and they know it. The dems are toast. They're like a football team that's down by 20 points with 1 minute left. They're going for a bomb, so it looks like they're trying, but everyone knows it's a lost cause.
When Bidensaid he was creating new jobs, we thought he meant in America.
