In my opinion, Dopey Joe wouldn't have even been in there as the beneficiary of the steal if this DFC hadn't pushed him to do it to assuage her egotistical social ambitions. I think even as stupid as he was, he knew that he was too old and unfit for the job. But she wanted to be a First Lady. And now that's he's completely senile, he probably thinks it was a good idea too.
