*Russell, 88, had a great sense of humor to go along with his words of wisdom and besides his work in the Black community, some of his best off-the-court moments came when he was having fun.

One of the most-remembered moments of Russell was when he flipped off Charles Barkley at the 2018 NBA Awards.

Barkley was presenting the Lifetime Achievement Award to Oscar Robertson but he took the time to acknowledge all of the NBA legends in attendance.

When Barkley thanked Russell, the Celtics legend flipped him off on live television, later apologizing and jokingly saying he can't help but show the bird to Charles.
