Peltola didn't beat Palin. She merely got the most votes running against a slew of Republicans of which some were probably ringers.
Even in the Alaskan general election coming up the Republican vote is going to be split again with Begich and Palin both running against Peltola. If Begich doesn't withdraw, the same thing could happen again. If they're going to have a ranked election, it should be between the two top vote getters. But of course the Democrats like it just the way it is.
