What has happened is not nearly as important as what can happen.  Look to the possibilities of your future for direction, forsaking the burdensome limitations of your past.

I do exactly that all the time. It's just very important to know when to realize that you need to stop trying. What I mean is that sometimes we DO have limitations and we need to recognize them. Or maybe our dreams are too optimistic. Let's say someone keeps thinking "I'm going to win the lottery." So he/she doesn't plan well and save for the future. That positive way of thinking can destroy someone. It's the same as trying to make a business work. There's a point where we need to say "this isn't working" and "I'm not going to make it" and move on.

...but the most important thing is what IS happening. Life seems to be easier when we focus on the here and now and take it one day at a time with an optimistic outlook for the future. Every morning we wake up breathing we've won a lottery. Us older folks really appreciate that "win".

lol. justxploring, I have about come to that conclusion. I am just not "feeling" it anymore. Maybe it is where I am living, I don't know.
