Paranoid or Cautious?

I just drove to the local dollar store which has a great selection.  I always buy my toothpaste there, which is made in America (I hope...at least that's how the label reads.)  However, tonight was the first time I hesitated purchasing liquid soap or body wash that said in small print "made in China."  I checked out another brand and it was made in Turkey.  I don't think I want to put anything on or in my body that's made in a foreign country.

Of course, how do we really know where any of our toiletries are made?  Anyway, I bought a large bottle of Arizona Green Tea with Ginseng ($1.00 - great buy) and some batteries and a couple of candles (it's hurricane season) and then I stopped at Walgreen's for the soap and shampoo.  I still bought the cheap stuff.  I just can't see any difference!

I call it smart! I won't buy alot of products just because of where it came from. Especially consumables. Was looking at garlic the other day and the cheapest stuff they had (already processed) was "MADE IN CHINA"   I spent the extra buck and purchased the made in USA brand.

SlingKing - I would, too. I no longer trust anything from China, and refuse to support.

SlingKing, that's the ticket! Spend an extra buck for the USA brand whenever possible. The USA is like a giant corporation and all of us are shareholders. When we buy products from our own company we enhance its value and all of us benefit.

Just to clarify - when I said "I still bought the cheap stuff" I meant the "Made in America" cheap stuff.   Freeman was a company that never tortured animals in its laboratories and didn't stop just because it was cool. Beauty Without Cruelty was one I used to use, but I can't find their products anywhere except online and it's a little out of my budget right now. As I wrote before, I began using very inexpensive products on my hair like White Rain and I can't tell the difference from the expensive shampoo from the salon. So the first thing I used to look for was "not tested on animals" and the now it's going to be "made in the USA" :-)

Full agreement - best to be cautious.   There are a lot of great values at the $1 stores but you have to be careful.   Sometimes, regular grocery stores (or other stores) can have sale prices for the same item and sell it less than $1.   So you still have to be a smart shopper.

ps...I understand camels have extremely bad breath. I would not buy camel spit!

Well give me a tin hat, but I'm pretty convinced that the poisoned pet food from China was just a test or a probe, to see if they could get such things into our system and on our store shelves, and they did.
