Interesting article. I could see how the attempt at linear regression was a tempting first try, though from her own graphics it is obvious that the uniform distribution of draw results might have required more "features" than just jackpot value. I still think a combination of categorical data and time series would provide a better shot, but I already found that numerical time series fell far short of picking a winner (or even a playable number set).
