Job Hunting

Published:

I have tried a job at a store merchandising. But it is really monotonous work and much harder than it looks to customers . A nightmare job. So I am actively job hunting. Thought about a call centre but that seems to be no better. They want you to work shift work and basically they think that you are a slave to the company.

Hope to eventually work for myself. I can't stand working for other people.

Inbound call centers aren't fun & exciting, but they're a lot better than telemarketing. Once I thought I'd go totally nuts calling 300 people a day saying the same thing over and over and over and over and hearing the same thing over and over and over ... "NO!"   Anytime you are working with the general public you face challenges since people love to complain. Working for yourself is very tough. It takes motivation, energy and a lot of enthusiasm, even when things aren't going too well. Some people are independent and others need the pressure to get out of bed and get to work for that lousy boss or they'll never get moving in the morning. Only you know which personality you have.

I wish you a lot of good luck.

I agree with Emily. I once had a pretty good job but I was getting sick from the way my boss treated me (and everyone else) and the other people were difficult too. I was a nervous wreck. However, the pay and the hours were good for me. If I could go back in time, I would do my best to try to focus on just going to work and doing my job well, and do my best to ignore all the insanity. A co-worker drank on the job. However, I shouldn't have let her problem have an effect on my job. One time I ran into a man in the supermarket who once worked their and quit. He asked "How can you work there?" I heard that a lot, even from customers! Just try not to let other people's attitudes influence you, since they're not paying the rent. As they say, hindsight is 20/20.

Yikes! I meant worked "there" not "their" no edit button on blogs. :-)
