Ulisses Grant was arrested for racing his horse in D.C. after being warned and agreed not to do it again. Grant paid a fine and the arrest wasn't controversial in 1872.

There were a couple Vice Presidents having legal problems. Spiro Agnew resigned after pleading guilty to felony tax evasion and Aaron Burr was charged with treason but acquitted.
