Oklahoma Schools ordered to teach from the bible

Published:

Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters to teach Bible lessons in public school classrooms.   Walters’ mandate to force bible lessons on students comes as many Republican-led states have pushed for more religion — specifically Christianity — in public schools.

Forget the fact the First Amendment prohibits an establishment of religion, some of the things written in the bible are very problematic.  Exodus 21:2-11 and Leviticus 25:44-46 not only condone slavery, it explains how slave owners can trick their Hebrew slaves and the correct way to beat their slaves.

A survey revealed that of the 54 superintendents who responded, 46 stated that they would not be pushing for their teachers to teach from the Bible. Doesn't say which of the thousands of Christian Dogmas they will be required to teach.

Some of the recent grads can't even make change so it makes one wonder where Walter's and the state of Oklahoma's priorities are.

* l see lawsuits. Perhaps they will not talk about the bible's view of fornication and divorce. What's next, having baptisms in school?

Way way back in the day some grade schools began the day by the children reciting the Pledge and the Lord's Prayer. It wasn't a problem until some children were forced to participate. Teachers in Oklahoma will have to cherry pick bible verses or tailer them and make a "one size fits all" take on Christianity.

Let's hope none of the teach from Mark 16:17-18.

* What a doozie..

People also ask
What is the meaning of Mark 16 17 18?
One way is to assume that Jesus followers are expected to handle deadly snakes to prove to unbelievers that they are Christians. Another way to understand this passage is to be reassured that when Christians accidentally come in contact with poisonous snakes, God will miraculously protect them

*I think that the education dept is going to have to talk about Mohammed & Khrisna at some point or there will be a major fall out. Islam claims that Jesus spoke of Mohammed, Hinduism is another story altogether, but l look forward to reading how they cleared that hurdle.

* btw: folks picking up poisonous snakes at least learn a lesson, we hope. Unlike those brain dead folks who think their candidate is " incapable of losing or lying."

Of the 45 Presidents 12 different Protestant denominations along with nondenominal, nontrinitarian, a deist, a couple of non-specified and Catholics. It's a very weird idea to teach from Jewish scripture considering not one President was Jewish. There was a reason the Founding Fathers decided Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion but apparently the Oklahoma Legislation didn't get the memo

Bet they got project 2025 memo.
