Do you have a U.S. Passport?

Published:

If H.R.8281 - SAVE Act  is passed, every voter will need documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in Federal elections. That means getting a U.S. Passport, a certified birth certificate, or a certificate of citizenship issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

If passed, it doesn't say when it will go into effect, but I certainly hope it won't be for the Federal election in less than two months. The number of passports has risen after "911"  and about 160.7 million are in circulation. Shouldn't be too big a problem providing they are all part of the 164.1 million registered voters.

Because I have passport, I think it's a great idea, but probably not for the voters without one. I strongly disagree with tying the SAVE Act to a government funding bill especially two weeks before the funding expires and less than two months before the election. Knowing how politically stupid it would be not pass government funding, Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson is still trying to include the SAVE Act. Even Sen Mitch McConnell says it's really a dumb idea before an election.

Why Congress can't work together to help all Americans is a topic for another time.

* Passports are not cheap.  I just had mine renewed in the past 3 month and and l swear l paid close to $200.00 ( expedited) folks on a tight income may pass on the election if it's a hassle.  What's weird is that it tool a felon to push for these changes & it's not as though he lost by a few hundred votes- he kost by millions & l am convinced that if he wins in Nov, he will try to come up with a plan to stay another 4 years stating that it's going to take a full 8 years to accomplish what he envisions " Make America Great Again " nonsense. This country will be unrecognizable should he win.

Trump is a mentally and physically sick man and even many of his poorly educated diehard MAGA supporters know it. His VP would throw him under the bus in a heartbeat (excuse the pun) to invoke the 25th Amendment.

Vance said he created the dog and cat stew story so the media would focus more on the problems on the border escalated when Trump told the Republicans in Congress not to pass the Border Act of 2024. Voting for Trump is one thing, but will enough vote for Trump and Benedict Vance?

It's $195 in KY and only used it once to go into and out of Canada. It was worth it though because the Canadian side of the Falls is much better and so are the restaurants at Niagra on the Lake.
