Yikes, this is really scary stuff.

If 1,115 is the lowest in 23 years then that means it's usually much worse.

There were enough Commercial mechanical issues to raise significant concerns for me.
Now.....The passengers causing disturbances while in flight and the dingalings that run one plane into another while taxiing or parking, that doesn't count as mechanical or in-flight. Bird strikes are just unavoidable. A ton of single engine small plane and helicopter issues !!
