Good quote, although maybe this just applies spiritually, not in our everyday world. I wish in the rat race where we are just trying to make a living, there wasn't so much competition. I hear everyday "prove to me that you can do it" and "prove to me you have the ability..."

Justx, what I get from Emily's quote is what I use to tell my kids. You'll not any better than anyone else, but you are just as good.

Justx- it's my personal opinion that if this is practiced in our "everyday lives" it will seep into our spiritual lives.

I personally LOVE this quote Emily, and I appreciate you taking the time to write these in your blog. I look forward to reading them on a daily basis. I see them as a positive affirmation or something to strive to include in my life on that particular day.

A GREAT WAY TO START MY DAY!!!

Again, a BIG THANK YOU!

I always wonder why many people here look at my comments as negative. I am only elaborating on how these sayings are applied or not applied in daily life. I also own many of the books from which Emily quotes and have thought about them deeply.

Daily affirmations are wonderful to read. I never said they weren't. For example, I was saying it's a good quote because you shouldn't have to prove yourself to anyone. However, everyday we are asked to do just that. If you apply for a job, you are asked to "prove" you are a top sales producer, a great dancer, singer, writer, typist, truck driver (whatever) by providing references. You need to prove you are a good leader by making positive changes in the world.

I once shared a story I heard at a sermon which was about an Olympic gold medalist, Cathy Rigby I believe. Anyway, what I heard was that before the Olympics her mother told her that it was more important to be HER best, not THE best. That was quite a long time ago, but I still remember that tape sent to me by a minister in Oregon. (long story)

So I never said these quotes were't positive or nice to read. Obviously one of the reasons people publish books and make lots of money from them is because people like us need to learn these everyday practices and apply them to our relationships. I never thought EmilyG minded these comments or she would have told me or sent me a PM.   Maybe I'm wrong.

Justx, I never think your comments was negative. You just be being real. In fact, what you said is too true to the carnal world but spiritual laws never change, regardless of what the world is like.
