Thanks CDanaT. I agree if proven 100% factual. I would imagine a similar trend is happening with all the government programs with 1-2% making it to the intended target for assistance. Has to be a better way.

What happens is they send you a letter which contains a sweepstakes entry and you can check a box for a small donation. $7, $10, $15 etc and enter the contest. Once you do they will put you on a mailing list and you will get swamped with sweepstakes entries from a whole bunch of charities seeking donations. It happened to my Mom.
Another thing they do is they use a name and website that looks and sounds similar to a legitimate charity to fool or confuse people into thinking they are the real deal. In this case Childrens Wish Network seems similar to Make A Wish.  Here is a list of the 50 Worst Charities to watch out for.

If you do a google search for 50 Worst Charities, you'll get links to a lot more than the ones on the  this list. Some will be ones that you see currently on TV.
