This lottery number selection system is a specialized method using a 30 sided dice for generating lottery numbers, honoring the policy game roots of Mushmouth Johnson's gambling empire. John "Mushmouth" Johnson (1872-1955) was one of Chicago's most successful Black entrepreneurs of the early 20th century. His nickname derived from a speech impediment, but this personal challenge did not prevent him from building a gambling empire centered on the "policy" game—a lottery style gambling operation that was the economic backbone of many Black neighborhoods before state sanctioned lotteries existed. Johnson's rise began in the 1880s as a waiter, but he quickly recognized the potential in gambling operations.
