You need to have the capacity for danger.  You need to be ‘dangerous’. 
Yet, you need to learn how to not use it except when necessary. 
And, that is not the same thing as being harmless. 
There's nothing virtuous about harmlessness. 
Harmless just means you’re ineffectual and useless.
