TGIF Math + Lottery

Published:

 1. The foolproof formula

> “I finally found a guaranteed way to win the lottery.”

Step 1: Buy every ticket.

Step 2: Go bankrupt.

Math checks out.

2. Probability explained

> What are your chances of winning the lottery?

Practically zero.

But don’t worry — they’re the same for everyone.

 3. The mathematician’s strategy

> An engineer says: “I have a system.”

A physicist says: “I have a model.”

A mathematician says:

“I have a proof it’s not worth playing.”

4. Hot numbers

> “These numbers are overdue!”

Probability says:

“They don’t know that.”

 5. AI prediction

> I trained an AI on every lottery draw ever.

It predicted…

random numbers.

 6. Expected value

> The expected value of a lottery ticket is negative.

Which is math’s polite way of saying:

“You’re donating money.”

 7. Markov chain lottery

> Current state: lost the lottery.

Next state (high probability):

lost again.

8. Advanced strategy

> “I use Fibonacci, prime numbers, and astrology.”

Math replies:

“Cool. Show me the odds.”

 9. The honest formula

> Lottery formula:

Hope > Math

10. American dream edition

> The lottery is proof that Americans believe in:

Lottery draws are physically deterministic systems that produce statistically random outcomes.

Intersection of classical mechanics and information theory. It highlights the distinction between determinism (how the world works) and predictability (what we can know about it)

RNG is not included, right? Classical mechanics = bouncing balls.  RNG = software.

RNGs, like lottery draws, are deterministic systems engineered to destroy or hide information so completely that their outputs are statistically indistinguishable from chance.
