“What will humans even be for?” That’s an existential fear, not a tech one.

If AI really replaced all jobs, society would have to change — fast
And that’s the part people don’t finish thinking through.
If mass unemployment happened:

1. Governments could not collect taxes
2. Companies would have no consumers
3. Social order would collapse

AI doesn’t remove purpose — it exposes where purpose already was.

Purpose has never actually come from jobs. It comes from:

1. Being needed by other humans
2. Making sense of chaos
3. Caring, guiding, witnessing, deciding
4. Creating meaning

What will always be needed and cannot be automated:

Ethical judgment
Responsibility and accountability
Trust-based roles
Human reassurance during uncertainty
People who understand systems and people

Bottom line... AI will change how we work — not why humans exist. Purpose doesn’t vanish when tools get better.
