Gadget mixup at Microsoft *finally* resolved

Published:

I've spent the last week trying to get the Lottery Results Gadget re-listed at the Microsoft gadget gallery.

You know why?  For the exact reason I referred to in a previous post -- there are some intensely jealous Lottery Post "competitors" out there (term is loosely used, since technically you'd need to be in the same league to compete) who immediately tried to get Microsoft to de-list the gadget.

These jerks try to act like regular users who have complaints.  Unfortunately, this is Microsoft's first time dealing with these morons, so they thought the people making complaints were on the up & up.

Can you believe what a bunch of sniveling &!^#$&!^%@'s these people are?  And some of you visit their web sites.  You know, web sites with names like "strategies" and "factor".  Think those people are nice?  Think again.  They have a guy who somehow bought or assumed control of the sites, and he is the worst of the worst.  An attacking, jealous you-know-what.  (He has wrote me theratening e-mails -- you literally would not believe the stuff he has threatened me with.)

Anyway, I could use some help again, now that the gadget is re-listed.

These jerks will surely go back to the Microsoft gallery page and post their negative reviews, so before that happens, if we could get as many people as possible to go there and give it 5-stars and a good review, that would be greatly appreciated.  Let's not allow these morons to gain any footing.

I really wish I didn't need to ask this, but unfortunately I do.  I need some help, if you can spare just a few minutes.

Here is the link:

http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDetail.aspx?li=a07c771a-080e-45d4-afba-fdc55cc2f9ad

If you already have a Microsoft Live account, you can just sign in and post a review.

(Don't forget to post the stars!)

If you don't have a Live account, it only takes a moment to create one.  After creating it, you activate it, just like you did with your Lottery Post account -- receive an e-mail, and click the link inside it.  Then you get full access and ability to review things.

By the way, while you're at Microsoft's site, be sure to check out their new Windows Live software, it's very cool.  I really like their new photo organizer, and you can get lots of other free software.  Plus, they have a brand new mail program that can integrate lots of different free e-mail accounts, like Yahoo, Google, Hotmail, etc. -- all in one program on your PC.

Thanks everyone for your help.

I rated it 5 stars. But how do I post a review? It said I need to have a nickname first before posting a review. So I typed in CSFB but the reply is: "sorry, someone else is already using that nickname." So, I typed in another nickname, but I get the same reply.

Then I realized I already have windows live, so maybe I do not need to have a nickname, but I still don't know how to post a review. How dumb can I get?

@csfb: There are millions of people who use live.com, so all the easy nicknames are taken, even ones that you'd think would be available. Just keep trying and eventually you'll find one that's unused. If you're really having a outgh time finding something that works, try adding number(s) and underscore(s).

@all: Awesome reviews, thanks so much. Please keep them coming! ;-)

I'm glad that you've been able to get it running under XP. Maybe you should post a blog entry (in your blog) showing XP users how to do it.

Well, I told you all it would happen, and now it did. The people I talk about in this post have now seen the gadget re-posted on the gallery, and have posted their negative star ratings. It's already dropped to 4-stars.

I'm surprised nobody has commented on the people I mentioned here. Did you all already know what A****S those people are?

No, but anytime you seem to be climbing up that great mountain of success, there always seems to be those who are jealous of you and will try to knock you back down because they haven't reached that level of success themselves. It's business. It's life. You have to expect it and be ready for a counter attack. Always.

@sysp34: You can't always trust Alexa stats, as I have found them fairly unreliable when measured against the actual server logs. They do their best, but it's an estimate/guess on their part. The point is well-taken though: I cannot explain why more people do not help out. Maybe when people are used to getting something for free for so long, they lose sight of what they're getting. I would certainly do it if *MY* favorite web site asked.

@spy153: I agree, that's why I tried to be proactive with getting some positive reviews on the board. I think many people have no idea about the kind of crap that goes on behoind the scenes, and how vicious some of these losers can be. They are just happily clicking along web sites, not realizing that some of the sites are run by real jerks that they would never associate with in real life. Personally, I do not visit *any* web site run by jerks, even if some of the info there is good. But that's just me. People who don't care would feel different if they were on the receiving end once in a while.

@CARBOB: Thanks!!

@sysp34: I am having a very difficult time understanding you. I think it is a language issue. I know all those pages, it is *not* necessary to keep posting screen grabs. If you'd like to help, I have posted a way to do that -- like CARBOB and everyone else here has done. Anyone can clearly see that there are people who are trying to lower the score, and I have described that in great detail. If not for everyone's help, there is no way we'd have 4 stars right now. I don't think there's anything left to say about that, frankly, and I'd prefer not to.

@ALL: Your continued help is greatly appreciated!! If you haven't posted a review, I would definitely appreciate one, if you can spare a few minutes. THANKS!!!

If you'd like to look for a couple other places to help, check out my post from last week, which gives 4 or 5 other links to sites that are carrying the gadget. The most important of them is Cnet/download.com, so that should be priority 1, and then the others after it. I am *grateful* for your help!
