That should go really well.

She wasn't even allowed to use her own shovel. It's outdated. So they are going to hold on to it for her and give her a more "modern updated" version. I will assume the city has a contract with someone to provide the more "modern updated" shovels for the shovelers.
And then when she wants to get her own shovel back, it will be missing. So now if she wants one  to shovel her own driveway with, as a city employee she will be required to buy a gov't approved shovel from the contractor. Which will cost twice as much as her old one and they will deduct the cost of it from her shoveling paycheck.
Meanwhile, the sanitation workers will get upset because with all the newly hired shovelers, they won't be allowed to work overtime digging out the city. The city residents will complain about why their street isn't plowed yet, the sanitation workers will walk out and the trash will pile up. Then AOC will make an announcement that snow doesn't melt when it's cold out and they will just have to wait till the weather gets warmer and as soon as the snow melts they will be able to pick up the trash. Then Mamdani will tell the people how great the new socialist style city gov't is working and why the city is so much better for it. He will then announce a new tax hike so they can hire more snow shovelers for next winter. And you thought I was being funny.
