Military losses for over 2.5 Decades

Pass this along to all of your intelligent friends.  The biased ones will never believe it.  Is not reporting all the facts a form of Media Bias?  Here are some interesting statistics.

These are some rather eye-opening facts:  Since the start of the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan, the sacrifice has been enormous.  In the time period from the invasion of Iraq in March 2003 through now, we have lost over 3,000 military personnel to enemy action and accidents.  As tragic as the loss of any member of the US Armed Forces is, consider the following statistics:  Here are annual fatalities of military members while actively serving in the armed forces from 1980 through 2006:

1980 ......... 2,392
1981 ........  2,380
1984 ......... 1,999
1988 ......... 1,819
1989 ......... 1,636
1990 ......... 1,508
1991 ......... 1,787
1992 ......... 1,293
1993 ......... 1,213
1994 ......... 1,075
1995 ......... 2,465
1996  ........ 2,318        Clinton years @14,000 deaths
1997 .........    817
1998 ......... 2,252
1999 ......... 1,984
2000 ......... 1,983
2001 .........    890
2002 ......... 1,007
2003 ......... 1,410
2004 ......... 1,887
2005 .........    919
2006..........    920

If you are confused when you look at these figures... so was I.

Do these figures mean that the loss from the two latest conflicts in the Middle East are LESS than the loss of military personnel during Mr.Clinton's presidency; when America wasn't even involved in a war?  And, I was even more confused when I read that in 1980, during the reign of President (Nobel Peace Prize) Jimmy Carter, there were 2,392 US military fatalities!

These figures indicate that many of our Media and Politicians will pick and choose.  They present only those reporting.  Why do so many of them march in lock-step to twist the truth.  Where do so many of them get their marching-orders for their agenda?

Our Mainstream Print and TV media, and many Politicians like to slant that these brave men and women, who are losing their lives in Iraq, are mostly minorities!  Wrong AGAIN... just one more media lie!  The latest census, of Americans, shows the following distribution of American citizens, by race:

European descent (White) ........... 69.12%
Hispanic .................................... 12.50%
Black......................................... 12.30%
Asian ........................................   3.70%
Native American ........................   1.00%
Other ........................................   2.60%

Now... here are the fatalities by Race; over the past three years in Iraqi Freedom:
European descent (white) ............ 74.31%
Hispanic ..................................... 10.74%
Black .........................................   9.67%
Asian .........................................  1.81%
Native American .........................  1.09%
Other .........................................  0.33%
You do the math!  These figures don't lie... but, Media-liars figure... and they sway public opinion!  These statistics are published by Congressional Research Service in the "CRS Report From Congress" and they may be confirmed by anyone at:

http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/natsec/RL32492.pdf

Now ask yourself these two questions:

- Why does the mainstream Print and TV Media never print statistics like these?
- Why do we have to find out this information on the web?

Any military or other life wasted as a result of lies and deception on behalf of our present government is a tremendous and total waste of life. So what's your point jarasan? Are you pointing out that the lives lost during this present scheming regime is acceptable because the numbers don't add up to lives lost previously by troops legitimatly defending this country? I don't think so!

jarasan, you have brought up a subject that really annoys me. I happen to agree 100%. I seldom watch ANY major network news because as far as I am concerned, they will only tell you what THEY want you to hear, and as you so deftly pointed out, they WILL SLANT what THEY want you to hear.
I am not saying that Pres. Bush is perfect. He is not and I don't agree with everything he says and does. However, there is not a day that goes by that I don't wonder how Al Gore, or any of his idiot friends would have responded to 9-11. Or if we would been attacked again. Does anyone really think that terrorists are just going to disappear just because Hillary becomes President? The fact is, the media is liberal, they hate Bush, and they make their business to slam him as often as possible.
Thank you for your post.

Lottovantage, read the entire post, any loss of life is tragic, military or not. The comment you wrote is a perfect example of my point, you are convinced that ONLY the present administration has any blood on its hands and that it's not defending this country. The biased media with it's hyberbole, and twisted presentation of facts have stopped you from thinking on your own. I believe, when you saw those STATISTICS your mind almost blew up, your intellectual honesty kicked in for a second and then chose to ignore the facts presented. You should click on the bottom link and read the statistics of prior "theoretically defensible wars" that made the world we live in today possible.

I also suggest you look closely at the statistics for the civil war, was Abe Lincoln a scheming deceiver with blood on his hands? Go figure, we weren't defending this country.

Was FDR illegitimate? I mean Hawaii was just an island?

What about Truman? Was he a mass murderer?

McKinley? Did he blow up one of our own ships to start the Spanish American War?

From Wikepedia:
"When the Maine blew up causing the deaths of 268 men, newspaper owners such as William R. Hearst leapt to the conclusion that Spanish officials in Cuba were to blame, and they widely publicized the conspiracy. Such publications practised what was called "yellow journalism", which originated in New York. Yellow journalism fueled American anger by publishing astonishing "atrocities" committed by Spain in Cuba. Hearst, when informed by a sketch artist he'd hired that conditions in Cuba were not bad enough to warrant hostilities, allegedly replied, "You furnish the pictures and I'll furnish the war."[2] Lashed to fury by the yellow press, the American cry of the hour became, Remember the Maine, To Hell with Spain! President William McKinley, Speaker of the House Thomas Brackett Reed and the business community opposed the growing public demand for war."

Another couple points to be taken from those stats., being in the military is a dangerous and honorable choice, freedom isn't free even in times of relative peace, and we are all in this together.

Just imagine for 30 seconds if all Americans believed in America and what it stands for, and the rest of the world knew it.

Jarasan,

THANK YOU for posting this. It is so important that individuals post this stuff, in order to somehow get it out there to people who never watch any news other than the Today show or their local news. The mainstream media lies every day -- by issuing lies of omission. They do not tell the whole story, they cherry-pick something that looks bad for our president and put it out there as "news".

Then, people who are satisfied knowing just what agrees with their pre-conceived notions run around like a sheep parroting that Bush is bad. Give me a break. Bush is not bad, he's doing what must be done -- and doing a lot better than most people in his position would.

Again, thanks for posting this.

Thanks for providing this information. You have done a tremendous job. Keep up the good work. I have often wondered during my life how many military personel die during years with no conflict. Now I know.
There is another gap in my knowledge. What was President's Bush's lie? Don't just tell me he said Iraq has WMD's. Bill Clinton said that.   Saddam said he had them. A host of people said Iraq had WMD. What were Bush's exact words which made him a liar and no one else? What was Bush's deception? I have yet to find any truth to this smear.

csfb I believe:

WAR is sometimes a neccessary evil. And that,

ABORTION is the devil's masterpiece.

Both have one thing in common, death and destruction.

War on the other hand can lead to peace and reconciliation, abortion has only one measurable fatal outcome.

That's right - the mainstream Print and TV Media never print statistics like these because they are slanted. There is so much that need to be looked at when you look at stats. Especially those who are reporting them. Sometimes they are padded and sometimes they are not.

Yes, look at the facts. Look how many have lost their lives since 2002.   Remember it's all because of 911. That's what started this mess. Remember we were looking for weapons of mass destruction and Bin Laden. And are we fighting the real people? LOOK HOW LONG THIS WAR HAS BEEN GOING ON! SOON WE WILL BE PAYING $5 FOR A GALLON OF GAS.

2002 ......... 1,007
2003 ......... 1,410
2004 ......... 1,887
2005 .........    919
2006..........    920

2007 numbers are not listed. Look how many people have suffered financially to support this war and those who have fought and DIED. Look at the lost of just about everything that the average person need to just survive in America. Look how hard that it.

Most of all - LOOK AT HOW MUCH MONEY HAVE BEEN SPENT ON THIS WAR AND HOW MUCH MORE WILL BE SPENT.   And for what? Bin Laden and weapons of mass destruction. Also remember that no end of this war is near and even more lives will be lost.

Don't be trying to shift the blame, slant the facts and cover of the antics of an idiot president.

Show the figures of the mental problems of the soldiers and military personnel. That's the real data that is hiding from the media. Show the data of the families of soldiers who don't have enough medical insurance and need operations.

Show the data of babies born but their fathers are dead from the war. Show those wives and see what they have to say. Show these figures to those people who have lost love ones in this war. Show it to their children, their wives, husbands, aunts, uncles, lovers, friends and see if they give a damn about the figures which are slanted anyway and came from Republicans who want to argue that this war is all right.

So, Tenaj what is your point?
Avatar Tenaj -
#13
The point Jarasan is that 7033 military have lost their lives since 2001 according to your stats. No telling how many been crippled and maimed. That's why I wanted to know what your point was.

DO THE MATH

2001 .........    890
2002 ......... 1,007
2003 ......... 1,410
2004 ......... 1,887
2005 .........    919
2006..........    920

HOW LONG HAS THIS WAR LASTED AND HOW LONG WILL IT LAST? HOW MANY MORE PEOPLE WILL LOSE THEIR LIVES OR GET MAIMED AND HOW MUCH MORE MONEY WILL BE SPENT.

Maybe you should play that number 7033.

Think real hard about what you were doing on the morning of 9-11. What were you thinking while it was happening? I remember thinking about who was doing this, why, and especially, what was NEXT? What else was going to happen? Then the anger that somebody would set foot in my country and attack us like we have NEVER been attacked before. BTW, my father was on the battleship California when the Japanese attacked.
People, this is NOT a war that is going to end like the other wars have, where leaders gather somewhere and sign a treaty. In fact, I don't see this war EVER ending, because the terrorists don't want it to end. You must realize that we will always be at war with terrorists because they hate America and what we stand for; freedom. Finally, I believe in honest debate, but please realize that they are very happy to see people demonstrate against the war, and read and hear the media bias, because they know that a house divided can not stand. They know that as more and more Americans stand up against fighting this war, terrorists win another little battle for that day. Is there a huge price to pay for this war? Absolutely. In human terms, and monetary. As there was for all the other wars. This one IS different. It is one that we must continually fight. What other alternative is there? Give up? People, there is a price for our way of life, for our freedom. May God bless those that have served, and their families, and paid the price in injury, and especially the ultimate price for America.

Thank you Ron. I agree completely. The dirty little secret is that most Americans feel the same way and if they let themselves be heard by voting, the same message will be felt throughout the rest of the world.

France has become a strong ally again! The message was loud and clear from France, liberalism has failed, they VOTED in a TRUE French patriot over a liberal socialist, let's learn from the French. Let's not go thru the painful social and national upheavel that socialism will cause this great country of ours, let's skip the failed experiment, someone else already has proved it doesn't work. Whatever we do for this country let's do it together and do it in the best interest of everybody American. Viva France and God bless America! P.S. I am buying French again, ne plus Chinese.
