Article seems to be behind a paywall.   Between this outbreak and potential for ingesting rat lung worm parasite, it seems a good idea to take extra precautions washing produce.

* This administration doesn’t believe in science. They gutted every agency that they considered unnecessary. Then they put Kennedy in charge of our healthcare. The guy has zero medical experience- but he’s the voice he need to listen to.
Right!

From the newsweek article.

The illness is caused by Cyclospora cayetanensis, a microscopic parasite that can contaminate food or water with human fecal matter. The parasite is spread when people consume food or water contaminated with human fecal matter containing cyclospora oocysts.

Fresh produce is the category most commonly associated with cyclospora outbreaks because contamination can occur in fields through contaminated water or poor sanitation, according to the FDA.

Hopefully people won't poop in the middle of the fields or in any nearby water.
