I am still reeling from just finding out about the 20K promotion. It made me think about scratchers. I've cooled off on scratch offs but even with scratch offs the lottery doesn't do a good job of advertising second chance. And they could easily fix this if they wanted to. 

I have seen videos of scratch offs from other states and some of them actually print second chance onto the scratch ticket in bold print letting players know to enter it if it is a loser. Also I've seen videos where they scan the scratch off and "not a winner, enter second chance" pops up on the screen. That means my lottery could easily program all the machines to let people know about second chance. And easily print second chance onto the tickets. 

This is slightly embarrassing to admit but when I was heavy into scratch offs I used to "dumpster dive" for losers. Not an actual dumpster but the store trash bins. But this was only possible because lots of people never knew about second chances. They see the ticket is a loser and just dump it in the trash. Actually I also got tickets from parking lots and sidewalks. If I saw a discarded scratcher I'd pick it up, enter it. This is why I started keeping sanitizer on me. I was so shocked at how many losers were in the trash. My guess is people were chasing so they bought a bunch, scanned them and kept dropping them in the trash one after the other. So I scooped all of them up and entered them. And doing that helped me win a bunch of prizes.

Some people would tear up their losers before dumping them which I always found strange because why not just drop it in the trash? Why intentionally rip it up and then dump the pieces? I have some theories for why they do that but I digress. 

I only admit to "dumpster diving" as an example of the lottery not advertising promotions to the best of their ability. It doesn't matter that I benefited from lack of promotion in the past. I want everyone to know about promotions and get their money's worth if people are spending $20 and $30 and $50 on a ticket. Fifty dollars is alot to drop on a single scratcher but I feel more people would be inclined to drop 50 dollars if they knew they could enter losers for the possibility of winning something decent.

During my "dumpster diving" days it was crazy how many 50 dollar tickets were in the trash or the streets and parking lots etc. I have never bought a 50 dollar ticket before but sometimes they would have bonus entries if you entered losers from every price point. So "dumpster diving" helped me get the super bonuses.

Well a lesson learned. From now on I am reading the print of every ticket I purchase. It's July 25th. Twenty Four days worth of F5 losers I threw away smh then again; What is meant for you shall be for you. I wasn't supposed to find out until yesterday. The universe knows best. And the universe keeps teaching me lessons.
