I think about the government surplus that was given away back in the day, really miss the real butter, peanut butter, powder milk, salmon, etc. 
Cheese, that block of cheese made the best grilled cheese. 
A lot of people I talk too, remember that surplus and what we did with it to make a meal.
These days, a lot of people eat the Ramen noodles, :-(.    I don't understand it. I would rather cook spaghetti, with no meat than those noodles.

He buys 8 packs of meat a month, I showed him how to buy the meat, we can get 4 different packages of chicken, ground beef, fish, pork ribs, etc.  for $19.99.  Last year, it would be 6 chicken thighs in one pack, now it's just four.  Bummer.  Then, he also buys whatever fish he likes for me to cook for him, Tilapia, Cod, shrimp, lol.  I get fresh veggies and can goods from a local church!   "Food Pantry"!   So, it just cost me labor, I don't mind.  When my mom was living, I cooked a big dinner every Sunday and some family members came with their to-go-containers.  lol.  For years, all my pick 3 lottery wins went on food, lmaoooooooooooooooo.  One time, I hit big on 823 Straight.  I had a big BBQ, bought everything.  It was nice, thanks to Molottery, lol.
When I worked at Chrysler, if I hit a pick 3, we had big lunch on Friday's, lol.

Today, my son just asked me about the 938, saying , 'how much did you win"?  I said, "nothing", I had it on my mind, but, I didn't play it, Missouri often plays whatever is due evening on midday first.  Now, I feel some type of way because, it hit last night, and I didn't play it.  I got 3 family members birthday coming on 8/13,  8/23 and 8/24!  I need grocery money, lol

From what I understand ramen noodles (and there are literally hundreds of different flavors) are supposed to be used as a base to add vegetables, meat, tofu for a complete meal. I used to go to a primarily Chinese grocery store in Atlanta which was in a former supermarket space. They had a complete long supermarket row full of various flavors of ramen noodles. Same with different flavors of soy sauces and seasonings. Wish I'd had a phone with the translate app on it to figure out what they all were.
