Eliot Spitzer, what a jerk. Arrogant, better than thou, Democrat bully, and Gov. of the Great State of New York..........

The wiretap recording, made during an investigation of a prostitution ring called Emperors Club VIP, captured a man identified as Client 9 on a telephone call confirming plans to have a woman travel from New York to Washington, where he had reserved a room. The person briefed on the case identified Mr. Spitzer as Client 9.

The governor learned that he had been implicated in the prostitution probe when a federal official contacted his staff last Friday, according to the person briefed on the case.

The governor informed his top aides Sunday night and this morning of his involvement. He canceled his public events today and scheduled an announcement for this afternoon after inquiries from the Times.

The governor's aides appeared shaken, and one of them began to weep as they waited for him to make his statement at his Manhattan office. Mr. Spitzer was seen leaving his Fifth Avenue apartment just before 3 p.m. with his wife of 21 years, Silda, heading to the news conference.

The man described as Client 9 in court papers arranged to meet with a prostitute who was part of the ring, Emperors Club VIP, on the night of Feb. 13. Mr. Spitzer traveled to Washington that evening, according to a person told of his travel arrangements.

The affidavit says that Client 9 met with the woman in hotel room 871 but does not identify the hotel. Mr. Spitzer stayed at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington on Feb. 13, according to a source who was told of his travel arrangements. Room 871 at the Mayflower Hotel that evening was registered under the another name.

The oldest profession in the world and especially with men with power and money. At least he like women and not men like the disgraced Republican Sen. Larry Craig.

... whoops :-)
Now, if they *really* cared about the 'horrors of prostitution', they'd hunt down the person the room was registered to. What are the odds?

Here's the irony to the situation.

"........... Spitzer had served two terms as attorney general where he pursued criminal and civil cases and cracked down on misconduct and conflicts of interests on Wall Street and in corporate America. He had previously been a prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, handling organized crime and white-collar crime cases.

His cases as state attorney general included a few criminal prosecutions of prostitution rings and into tourism involving prostitutes.

In 2004, he was part of an investigation of an escort service in New York City that resulted in the arrest of 18 people on charges of promoting prostitution and related charges."

I betcha his wife and three daughters are glad about that. You know, not playing footsie in a bathroom.

If they're getting paid that much, they can afford to eat more. :-)

At least it was not with an intern in his office.
Whats the big deal. The man wanted a little action on the side and paid a prostie for it. one of The oldest professions in the world and still getting knocked around for it.
Maybe they should check his wifes temerature. Cold be a cold one.
Should be legalized in my book.

How about the old days in D.C. Red light district use to be 2 blocks from the white house.

Yeah, Jap but he is a hypocrite in a big way. The painful part was having to see his wife at the news conference, you shoulda seen the look on her face, it wasn't a happy one.

I personally feel for his children, because, in my opinion, his wife probably looked the other way and let "Daddy" do what "men do!" There's no way she didn't know this because she was probably told by someone else and looked the other way. What role models for the girls (their daughters).

I feel everyone he prosecuted, investigated or otherwise she be freed until he pays his debt to society.

BTW - Play 871 & 310 in New York, the room number plus the day he was exposed to the public!!

What gets to me about the entire thing is that sex scandals can ruin a politician's career when they can get away with corruption unnoticed.

Tenaj - ain't that the truth! People are such hypocrites too. Drop bombs on people, call yourself a good Christian, but get a little nooky on the side and you are the Devil! Who cares if someone is fooling around on the side? I'm not gay, but if I wanted to pay a man for sex or a woman for sex or a man & woman for sex, that's also my business. 2 (or 3 or 4) consenting adults should be able to do whatever they want as long as no minors are involved and everyone is of sound mind.

My question here is ... what the heck were these women doing for $5,500 an hour? What could possibly be the difference between the $1,000 package and the $5,500 package?   Investment counseling? LOL

Eliot Spitzer got caught because he created sham companies, using state coffers, they were investigating govt. corruption that is what led to the nookie. They thought he was laundering money! It didn't start with sex. Oh yeah, he wanted unsafe sex with the nookie (that is extra around 5K), you women out there gotta admire the guy, what a class act, I know his wife appreciates that, you know, gettin' done dirty.

The problem with trivializing what he did is ludricous, because there are many things that can go wrong, most importantly he can be blackmailed! He is the GDmm Gov. of New York! If the Govs. office is compromised, peoples lives can be put on the line. This is why he is a jerk.

OMG! I didn't realize he had unprotected sex. You couldn't pay me enough! I understand that, being Governor, he has to live up to a higher expectation, but if he used his own money...well, I guess you'll then say that his salary comes from taxpayers, so I better stop. I wasn't defending him, but there is a lot of hypocrisy in our country. He had much more of a chance of being blackmailed if he was picking up women at bars. (again, not suggesting that) I do NOT condone cheating. But I agree partly with JAP.   I'm still trying to figure out why there's a couple of people in Washington who have lied to us for over 7 years and haven't resigned!

Just had to add this ..... unprotected is unprotected whether it's conventional or oral. Understand STD's can be passed via oral also. Believe search will substantiate that.

Jarasan point very valid .... anyone paid by taxpayers whether seated as President or Governor can YES be blackmailed due to indiscretions so should not continue holding that position under any circumstances.
