WASHINGTON - Tim Russert, NBC News’ Washington bureau chief and the moderator of “Meet the Press,” died Friday after being stricken at the bureau, NBC News said Friday. He was 58.

Russert was recording voiceovers for Sunday’s “Meet the Press” broadcast when he collapsed, the network said.

He had recently returned from Italy, where his family was celebrating the graduation of Russert’s son, Luke, from Boston College.
Survivors include Russert’s wife, Maureen Orth, a writer for Vanity Fair magazine, whom he met at the 1976 Democratic National Convention; and their son, Luke.

Our local news said he had just last weekend helped move his elderly father who's in his upper 80's into another 'facility', so leaves so leaves the elder Russert behind also.

it seems tim was always caring for others and ignoring his own health.if he had just had a yearly physical, with blood tests, cholesterol, trygycerides, they might have detected his health problem.so many don't like physicals.

Scorpio, he was diagnosed a few months ago with coronary disease and was taking medication and exercising according to the reports. His career was very demanding, but all his coworkers & friends say he really loved it. However, we all have to sit down and take a look at what comes first, so I agree. For some people losing weight is a real problem and an everyday battle. He was never a small person. I know a man who jogged everyday, gave up smoking & drinking, had millions in the bank (so money wasn't a stresser) and tried to stay away from fatty foods, but he still had a heart attack & died in his 50s.   So to the young people who are reading this, you need to start early! Even though he loved his job, I believe the stress of his job was his downfall. I retired early from a stressfull job (property management) because I realized it could kill me if I continued. Tim probably had all the warning signs, but didn't take heed. He was a very likeable person!!!
