In God We Trust
Published:
I am tired of our Government wanting to take God out. I am going to buy T-Shirts and have the Screen printer put the words In God We Trust I will also find someone to do a bumper sticker with the same words Plus these words: If This Shirt (bumpersticker) offends you...
Apparenly it is ok to offend Americans and Christians but if Americans offend another religion OMG As you know OMG can mean anything you want it to mean. Now the religion I was thinking of where thery worshup the cow would be OMC or whatever they can think of
That's it for now

Anyway, back to the subject - I agree it's gone too far, but on both sides. Just because someone believes in God or worships Him doesn't make that person a Christian. I think what is offensive is when one particular group of people, often radical in their beliefs, tries to force their religion on others. School prayer and IN GOD WE TRUST is fine with me. So is having Santa and Christmas (as commericial as it's become) since it's all part of living in America. Like just about anyone, I would never be offended by a religious bumper sticker or tee shirt, only if that person insisted I need to agree with him or I'm not a good American. It's really not about Christianity anyway. I hear one Christian telling another Christian all the time that his beliefs are wrong. (i.e., the Baptists say the Catholics are really Christians)
Without hijacking your blog (if that's the correct term) I just want to point out that IN GOD WE TRUST was not part of our heritage at all. We never used it at all until after the Civil War by an Act of Congress in 1864 and even then it did not appear on all coins. In fact, it wasn't on any paper money in the United States until 1956 AFAIK. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it was Eisenhower who signed into law that these words would become our national motto.
Thanks for letting me post. :-)
