In God We Trust

Published:

I am tired of our Government wanting to take God out. I am going to buy T-Shirts and have the Screen printer put the words In God We Trust I will also find someone to do a bumper sticker with the same words Plus these words: If This Shirt (bumpersticker) offends you...

Apparenly it is ok to offend Americans and Christians but if Americans offend another religion OMG As you know OMG can mean anything you want it to mean. Now the religion I was thinking of where thery worshup the cow would be OMC or whatever they can think of

That's it for now

I have a rubber stamp that I use on my letters. "In God We Trust" and I put it right under the postage stamp. I started doing that when the Post Office said that anything that said "In God We Trust" had to be removed from their bulletin boards.

" if Americans offend another religion" (your exact words) Huh? I didn't know AMERICAN was a religion. BTW I don't know anyone who worships a cow & I studied theology for years. If you are talking about the Hindus, the sacred cow is entirely different and they don't worship it anyway. The cow you speak of is just not part of their diet and can't be slaughtered, but is certainly not a god by any means. People here don't slaugher their cats or dogs, but they don't worship them either. Ignorance and religious prejudice against other faiths people don't understant has continued to support this myth.

Anyway, back to the subject - I agree it's gone too far, but on both sides. Just because someone believes in God or worships Him doesn't make that person a Christian. I think what is offensive is when one particular group of people, often radical in their beliefs, tries to force their religion on others. School prayer and IN GOD WE TRUST is fine with me. So is having Santa and Christmas (as commericial as it's become) since it's all part of living in America. Like just about anyone, I would never be offended by a religious bumper sticker or tee shirt, only if that person insisted I need to agree with him or I'm not a good American. It's really not about Christianity anyway. I hear one Christian telling another Christian all the time that his beliefs are wrong. (i.e., the Baptists say the Catholics are really Christians)

Without hijacking your blog (if that's the correct term) I just want to point out that IN GOD WE TRUST was not part of our heritage at all. We never used it at all until after the Civil War by an Act of Congress in 1864 and even then it did not appear on all coins. In fact, it wasn't on any paper money in the United States until 1956 AFAIK.   Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it was Eisenhower who signed into law that these words would become our national motto.

Sorry, Wheeler. Just want to make a correct. I meant to write "Some Baptists say the Catholics are NOT good Christians." Missing one word can make a big difference!

Thanks for letting me post. :-)

Ironic how I said I wanted to make a "correct" instead of a correction. Must be something wrong with my keyboard. LOL

Good for you Wheeler. You can't go wrong with God. He IS the man. Give him praise.
