Tony Snow knew this.

Tony was a one of those people that saw this country for what it is, the greatest nation ever. He will be sorely missed.
I don't know if this is from Jay Leno, but for the misery moaners, it should give you something to think about.
Oh yeah, congress approval (who cares right?) 9%.
Subject: JAY LENO ON PRESIDENT BUSH (SURPRISING!)
Jay Leno wrote this; it's the Jay Leno we don't often see....
"As most of you know, I am not a President Bush fan, nor have I ever been, but this is not about Bush, it is about us, as Americans, and it seems to hit the mark. 'The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some Poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right?
The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President. In essence, 2/3 of t he citizenry just aint happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, "What are we so unhappy about?''
A. Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 Days a week?
B. Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?
C. Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?
D. Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?
E. Maybe it is the ability to drive our cars and trucks from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state?
F. Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?
G. I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough either.
H. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.
I. Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home.
J. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames, thus saving you, your family, and your belongings.
K. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss.
L. This, all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents, Neighborhoods where 90% of teenagers own cell phones and computers.
M. How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?
Maybe that is what has 67% of you folks unhappy.
Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S., yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.
I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president who cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks, the commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me?
Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad? Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the 'Media' told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day. Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an "other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a "dishonorable" discharge after a few days in the brig.
So, why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of
Americans?
Say what you want, but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads, and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by 'justifying' them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane!
Turn off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as country. There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.' 'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, 'Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

Americans are much smarter then you think they are. I can't and don't believe that the vast majority of Americans are being lead around by the nose by the media and so over powered by it's presentations that we don't see all of the freedoms, the blessings that this country affords us.
The media does allow us to see the blunders and the historical mistakes that have occurred and are in the making from some elected officials. The media also allows us to read and hear the comments that many of our,self-appointed god-like celebrites think that they have to pour from their royal mouths.
But as you said, Jarasan, I can't believe Jay Leno who is known to be a stunch supporter of President Bush wrote this. Would he really write an article stating that he is not a President Bush fan when he has been so public about his support for the man in the past. Does he talk out of both sides of his mouth, or did I miss some juicy gossip about President Bush stepping on Jay Leno's toes.
This so-called essay, speech or whatever it's called (depending on who emails/posts it) never happened. It's been credited to Jay Leno, David Letterman and others. But if you do your homework, you'll find that it's just another one of those internet rumors someone made up one day.
By the way, it's true that we live in a great country. However, I remember when the economy was a lot better, gasoline was under $3 a gallon and my dollar went a lot further. Having a strong desire to live in a nation run by a government that is for the people is not the same as being unappreciative. When George Bush got elected for a second term, people kept thinking "I don't want to be un-American. Let's fight the terror." Being against the War in Iraq, wanting fair food & fuel prices, and desiring to have health care at reasonable costs isn't selfish or unpatriotic. It's the way our country was headed in the first place before the IRS, the Fed and all the other corruption in our government began calling the shots.
The media brings up dissatisfaction only because drama sells.
P.S I remember when Sunoco 260 was 71 cents a gallon.
With devises in passports and credit cards they can track your every move.
Every time you go thru a toll booth with your pass they know it's your vehicle wether your behind the wheel or not they are tracking your movements.
Our government is so deep in debt that it will take a hundred years to recover if we ever recover.
Speculators and stock traders without regard for its investors are trying to bring down this country with every passing day.
A county dependant on foreign oil. A government who is afraid to force the big automakers to stop building engines that use gasoline or at the very lease build engines that can get more miles to the gallon.
Why haven't we built any fuel processing plants in the last 30 years --- because the government said not to congress voted on it. The big three automakers were supposed to have already in place vehicles that weren't fuel hogs. They didn't and now we are stuck with the gas guzzling crap.
What has our great leader and staff done about it.... nothing. The say it isn't a problem. That we aren't in a recession that we aren't headed for a depression.
If George Washington were alive today he would blow his mind if he knew that by throwing those silver coins across the Delaware river and telling his ores men there's more of them where these came from and that from that point on Americans would become the money hungry fools they are. He might have wrote or altered the monetary system where buy wealth wouldn't dictate our lives. However we know that not the case and as long as there's free enterprise people will seek wealth by whatever means they can even if it means bringing down the country and starting all over again.
For what's right or wrong with this country it lays squarely on the heads of those in charge. They know what they did or didn't do wont affect them, most of them they are independently wealthy and could care less if the American people go broke while they play their mind games with the American people.
Before the cold war supposedly ended one leader said we don't have to bomb America they will destroy themselves from within --- their monetary system will collapse ... we are on the verge of that wether the government accepts it or not.
I do agree with the notion that the media controls a lot. They educate our kids when they sit in front of the TV box for hours on end. We are largely a nation of people who have grown up with movies and televisions.
I think all the division comes from the fact that there are now DIFFERENT viewpoints being offered -- not just the solitary one offered by the broadcast networks. (Thank you Internet!)
Many people become genuinely angry when they learn how the mainstream media has systematically tried to forward a liberal agenda, and they are loath to admit it. I don't know what's worse -- the fact that they did/do it, or that they won't admit it now that the cat's out of the bag.
How Reagan managed to cut through all the slanted coverage and win over most of America is a feat that is hard to imagine. It is a tribute to his message and persuasive, honest character.
Nowadays, at least there are ways to counter the biased coverage, and help people to see that they are not alone in their strong feelings that something in the liberal message is very wrong.
