Unless you're just doing it because it's fun socially, playing with a "syndicate" lowers your payout so much that (a) you don't get any benefit whatsoever from lower-tier prizes, and (b) the risk/reward equation for a jackpot win is not worth it. I would steer clear of "syndicates", unless you're just trying to have a different kind of fun.

Also, the few stories that come out about "syndicates" winning jackpots do not justify joining one. Of course they will occasionally win, but a lot more solo players win than "syndicates".

One more important point is that the "syndicate" that is currently experiencing virus-like growth - Virtual World Direct - is nothing more than a pyramid scheme aimed at lining the pockets of the owners. It should be avoided at all costs.

If you must join a "syndicate" then start a lottery pool at work or with some close friends.
