Thanx For The Anti Virus Input In LOTTERY DISCUSSION

Published:

Updated:

Well, although there are some threads in LOTTERY DISCUSSION, such as the ongoing "Whats the story behind your LP name thread" that still continues and obviously has nothing to do with lottery playing, my thread concerning Anti Virus Packages got locked down before I could thank the responders for their input.

I would be very interested in knowing how many members actually participate in On Line Lottery playing, or even visit Lottery Post and participate in discussions, etc., without a viable Anti Virus package?

Anyway, although this is rather redundant, thanks to

lottolaughs for your thoughtful input on this subject!!!

Here's another thought, how about an LP Forum for general discussion such as Birthdays, Deaths, or anything else unrelated to the lottery?

This might ease the responsibility Todd has in monitoring all the different Forums for subject matter, and allow the paying and non-paying members an opportunity to present questions, etc., without getting the thread locked down prematurely.

I have wondered about that myself, and I think it would be a good idea. To be sure, Todd probably wouldn't something like that getting out of hand, ie: adding new forums that don't deal with the lottery, but I think ONE forum that is open for any subject matter would be nice.

The point is, there are subjects that are allowed to continue on and on such as when someone gets on the $h-t list and everyone begins ragging them to death forever until it becomes sickening, and those threads are not locked down in a timely manner, if at all.

Then, there are other subjects that are allowed as mentioned such as birthdays, deaths, folks returning/leaving LP, etc., that are allowed to continue without having any lottery value whatsoever.

Why aren't all these subjects locked down and the origionator's of those threads advised to post those subjects in their personal blogs as I was?

Maybe changing my tag from LottoVantage to something like meatball would help?

This has been discussed in the past. I don't want to misquote Todd, but I believe the reason he said he was concerned was that certain people might use it for their own political grandstanding.   (I thought I was one of those "certain people" he was referring to. LOL)

I think it's a good idea unless the blog format could be changed. I think most people just look at the first screen and don't search for blog subjects.   I might be missing something, but is there a way to look at daily or weekly topics in case you don't sign on for a few days? I do that on the threads, but not the blogs.

I usually don't search blogs. I'll scan the front page and if something looks interesting I'll read it. I remember Todd's rant a few months ago. I think it really concerned negative comments and blogs, which I could understand. I don't believe he cared whether a blog was political, we still see that happening, and I sure don't care about political blogs cause I don't bother to read them.
The reason I would like to see an open forum is that sometimes someone has a non lottery question, or like me last week, I had something to get off my chest (my daughter going off to college). I like to play Maddog's challeges, so occasionally I'll add a personal blurb in my challenge. I feel like that's probably not appropriate, but I don't have time to mess around with a blog and it allows me to get something "out" that's on my mind.

I,too, wonder how some threads stay alive forever and ever that have nothing to do with the lottery. It gets maddening sometimes but Internet Security is a very important issue. I notice that after I even visit Lottery Post and run a scan with my security, there are always "threats" that need to be cleared--Spyware Cookies! I am sure there are plenty of people here who are visiting without protection. You'd be surprised when you surf the net about viruses and such, how many people are so clueless. In this day and age you just can't afford to be without SOME security. And as we speak, the hackers are working on breaking down what we already have. It's probably safe to say we will never be 100% safe on the internet but people, wear a condom at least! LOL

Have you decided on anything yet,LV?

Yes! I 0rdered three years of Trend Micro Internet Security Pro as you suggested. After reviewing everything else, I liked it the best! It's good for three computers as well, and I really liked that. I got rid of the bloated and ineffective Norton 08 and am happy with the pricing of Trend Micro.

I agree, I don't see where a discussion helping others protect their computer, while connected to LP or anywhere else, could be irrelevant enough to cause a lock down while permitting some of the rant subjects to continue on and on forever.

Good to see you! Hoped you and the others would see my blog. I suppose there are a lot of folks that don't bother reading them because of the difference in format from the threads.
